Introduction to the School of Economics and Management:

The predecessor of the School of Economics and Management, Zhejiang Sci-tech University, was the Department of Marketing and Management which was founded in 1985. The School of Economics, Trade and Management was founded in December 1999, and renamed the School of Economics and Management in November 2005. The School has two key disciplines in economics and management. At present the School has 142 faculty members. And of 117 full-time teachers, 22 are professors, accounting for 18.8% of the total number of full-time teachers, 37 associate professors, accounting for 31.6% of the total number of full-time teachers. Among the teacher, there are 43 teachers who have studied abroad for more than 6 months, accounting for 36.1% of all full-time teachers.

In the School, one was elected key funding in the “Provincial New Century 151 Program”, five was elected in the First and Second Tiers and five was in the Third Tier of the Program by Zhejiang Provincial Government; one young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions in Zhejiang Province, one provincial famous teacher, one outstanding teacher in Zhejiang Province, eight was elected as “Young and Middle-Aged Discipline Leaders” by Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education. During the recent five year, the School had been granted more than 400 funded research projects with the total amount of RMB 40,000,000. Of these research projects, 19 (including 7 general projects and 1 international cooperation project) were funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China , 13 by the National Social Science Foundation of China (including 1 major project and 2 key projects) , 91 by state ministries and provincial departments. 158 by enterprise commissioned. Our faculty members had published 35 monographs and over 500 papers in the academic journals at home and abroad, including “Management World”, “Economic Research”, and “Journal of Psychology” and etc., including 36 papers published in international journals (SCI/SSCI), 6 papers in domestic special journals and 132 papers in domestic first-level journals.

The School has 6 departments, i.e., the Department of Business Administration, the Department of Accounting, the Department of International Trade, the Department of Economics, the Department of Finance and the Department of Management Science and Engineering. It has 10 undergraduate programs in economics, international economy and trade, finance, information management and information system, e-business, business administration, marketing, HR management, accounting, economic statistics and 2 full English classes (international economics and trade China business direction, business administration). Up to now, the School has 1 dominant specialty in Zhejiang Province, 1 emerging specialty, 2 provincial key disciplines, 6 provincial excellent courses (including 1 online course), 1 provincial and ministerial-level entrepreneurship mooc course; the School has won 5 provincial (ministerial) teaching achievement awards and 4 provincial teaching competition awards (including 1 first prize); 9 provincial key textbooks have been published.

The School has a doctoral program at the second-tier discipline of the textile industry economy and management. And there are 4 master programs at the first-tier disciplines, i.e., management science and engineering, applied economics, business administration and management science and engineering, 8 master programs at the second-tier disciplines, i.e., regional economics, finance, industrial economics, ecological economics, international trade, labor economics, legal economics, and business management, these cover technology and innovation management, e-commerce, information systems and knowledge, project management, logistics and supply chain management, regional economics, finance, industrial economics, ecological economics, international trade, technology economics and management, entrepreneurship and SME management, financial management, human resource management and enterprise management (including strategic management, marketing); the School has the right to confer professional master's degree in business administration (MBA), accounting (MPAcc), and logistics engineering. It has one Provincial Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences (applied economics), one Provincial Key Research Base of Philosophy and Social Sciences (Zhejiang Ecological Civilization Research Center), one Provincial First-class Discipline (applied economics), and one Provincial Key Discipline (business administration). The School has three university-level research institutes, i.e., the Institute of Eco-Economy, the Institute of Industrial Transformation Economics and Financial Development, and the Institute of Regional and Urban Economics, two college-level research institutes, i.e., the Institute for Business Management and the Institute for HR Management, and some supporting institutions including the School Office, Teaching and Research Office, Student Work Office, the MBA Education Center, Economic Management Experimental Center, Foreign Exchange Center and other institutions.
